Leave me Alone......
Leave me Alone......
When did I get so popular?
One of the things I did not budget for when deciding to do the British Craft Trade Fair was advertising.
I am not sure why, I guess it may have been an oversight on my part, or that considering that this particular trade show is so well established I did not need to think about any additional advertising.
But I have to say this month has been an interesting month of random companies calling me out of the blue.
I have to say I hate cold calls at the best of times let alone when I have so much preparation to do, and the last thing you want is someone calling you to sell advertising because they know that you are taking part in an exhibition, and don't get me started on the emails.
So the last few weeks there's been a spike of people trying to sell me one thing or another because of the British Craft Trade Fair.
Some things are of no use/interest to me and/or the business, but there are other opportunities that tempt me especially when it comes to raising my profile in Ireland, and with price so right, I fell for it.
Now I have to say I did all my due diligence and researched the company as much as possible, well as much as one can when a company is based in Ireland.
Now that said the warning bells should have gone off when the proofs took 8 goes before it was right, but hey I was so distracted by other things, that I really wasn't paying that much attention, and at that point I hadn't paid.
It was only when I made my payment that things really got bad,
- The website listing took longer to add than agreed
- The website listing was not in keeping with the other listings
- The login credentials was never sent
- Thee infomercial report was never sent
- Apparently all the information was sent to the wrong email address
It was just one excuse after another, and in the end after missing so many deadlines to provide the relevant information, I lost patience, you know that virtue I don't have, cancelled the order, and got my credit card company to request a refund.
Thank god I paid by credit card, as no company really wants to get on the wrong side of them!
I did get some advertising with another company that is affiliated with British Craft Trade Fair, and negotiated a bit of a deal, now we just have to see if the investment was worth it's while
Until next time
