Amber Cabochon Collection
Amber Cabochon Collection
What do you do when you get a random set of different sizes and shapes amber cabochons?
Last month I decided to juice things up and ordered a set of mixed shape and size amber cabochons, from one of my local suppliers.
I did not know what to expect, apart from the fact that I would received 5 amber cabochons between 12-20mm in size, but I was excited when they arrived and this is what I found inside:
Luckily for me my gamble paid off as there where a couple of cabachons that where what I would call pairs, so would lend themselves to earrings or studs, but the more I thought about it the more I thought they make be too big for studs and/or earrings, so I asked my followers on Instagram waht I should make with them.
One od my followers suggested cufflinks, now I admit that was not even in my realm of design ideas, but I was excited and intrigued, especially as I am partial to a nice pair of cufflinks, and based loosely on a pair of cufflinks I already owned I set about creating my first pair of cufflinks, the design process can be fould in my Amber bezel setting design challenge blog post, but here are the final cufflinks:
I have to say that I am really pleased, proud and chuffed by the end result.
And it was with in mind and the fact that I loved how my first pair of cuff links turned out, that I decided to create a second pair:
I absolutely love the shape and colour of the elongated oval Amber cabochons that I just had to make a pair of studs with them:
I think they all look stunningly gorgeous, but of course I am slightly bias, so what do you think?
I still got a few amber cabochons left to play around with, and plan to turn them into rings and pendants, so watch this space!!!!
I would really love to hear your thoughts, so post something in the comments below:
Until next time
