2021 Healing Fields At Rice Lane City Farm
2021 Healing Fields At Rice Lane City Farm
While I was at the Summer Pop Up in the Palm House, and old friend visited my stall and invited me to her Healing Fields Event at Rice Lane City Farm
When I was initially asked to take part in the Healing Fields event at Rice Lane City Farm, my first reaction was to say No.
After all nit only would this be an outdoor event, but it would be on a farm!!!
Granted it was going to take part in August, but the way the British Summer weather has been, you really are taking pot luck in what elements you have to deal with!!!
But after talking about it with the event organiser, I thought how could I make this work?
Looking at my stall, I decided if I stream lined my stall I could minimise the risk issues of attending an outdoor market event, especially as this would be a perfect opportunity to get infornt of the wellness and wellbeing crowd within Liverpool, who might not typically attend and handmade craft market or fair.
The issue of the farm I would just have to deal with that on the day.
I have heard of Rice Lane City Farm, before as there used to be a monthly craft market before lockdown, but with it being an outdoor event I never took part, and so I did not know where the venue was.
There was nothing for it I looked at Google Maps, to get a handle on the venue and how I would get there.
I turned up at the venue early, although other stall hlders had the same idea as me and already taken the prime parking spots.which meant me having tonavigate my trolley over a cobbled road.
First thing I noticed was that the market space was not in a field and I had a sigal for the phone!!!
Second thing I noticed was that I was on a tarmaced path lined on one side with gravestones, that led up to what looks like a church, so all in all my worst fears had not been realised.
I put my table against a gazebo, which I thought would be ideal for me, and while I was thinking how am I going to navigate the cobbled road with my trolley, I was offered some help in the shape of 3 strong guys to help carry my boxes from the car to my gazebo.
However in the time it had taken use to return someone had commondered my gazebo, and I didn't fancy sharing it with them, for some unknown reason.
Not to worry, I found another spot that would get the sunlight and hence show me handmade copper, sterling silver crystal jewellery to ite blingyest best, and set about setting up my reduced stall:
With a reduced stall, I would be showcasing my handmade healing crystal rings, copper rings, hoops and studs:
As you can see from my display I have an array of raw protection crystals, including black tourmaline and smokey quartz along with amethyst and rose quartz.
I did land up sharing my gazebo with another small start up business, who was new to markets, selling positive and happiness affirmation cushions and gift boxes.
While we were setting up, the business that ousted me from my original spot, was selling law of attraction/spiritual art work and the seller was talking alot about law of attraction, which I thought was interesting, considering the conversations I had been having with a friend on the Friday.
Interestingly enough when she was asked to share her gazebo with a 12 year girl she declined, and then went on to complain about the live music that was being performed.
I also noticed that her stall was darker than everyone elses in the same area.
Before the evnt officially opened to the public, I thought I would checkout the other stall holders, and as usual there was a plethora of jewellery makers and jewellery stores, luckily for me none had studs, so that was an advantage, and only one had copper ring, which was actually plated, rather than solid copper.
That said at these things I never stress, and I look at the bigger picture.
I caught up with the mother of the 12 year old girl, and she said she felt that stall had a lot of negative energy, so was glad that her daughter was given a different spot to sell her bracelets, and the live performer said a similar thing.
As for me I had a few sales, and was talking to potential customers who had come for the free yoga, and other wellness and wellbeing activities of the event.
The lady I was sharing the gazebo with, said that nobody was looking or stopping by her stall, in the 2 hours she had been there and she was thinking of leaving.
I looked over and then picked up and gave her a black tourmaline that I had on my stall, to place between her and the stall to her right.
Within 30 seconds of doing that people starting coming to her stall!!!
Coincedence?
You can find art and creativity anywhere, and I was intrigued by the gravestones of the venue, and decided to have a closer look while things were quiet, these tombstones, look like they have been around for awhile!
I love the ornate design of the gravestones, and also the geometric shapes, that could translate into jewellery design.
I do plan to visit the venue again in the near future, but not as a stall holder so I can see what this venue is about find out about the history, as you would not really expect a farm to be at the top of a residential area which backs onto a prison.
What do you think?
