It seems that Elite Shungite has made me a liar of my mantra I'm not normally a fan of black gemstones

For years I have swerved black healing crystals, as black is black and there is nothing really to them!!!

Black healing crystals have an affinity to the root chakra, and predominately used for grounding and protection.

I constantly wear a Citrine and Fire Agate pendant, an Amethyst ring on my pinky finger, Mystic Quartz and a Mystic Quartz and Freshwater Pearl anklets so as far as I was concerned my personally gemstone jewellery collection was complete.

Since I started Joolzery, I am actually wearing less jewellery, especially bracelets, even though over the years I have made so many beautiful statement pieces, that could quite easily formed part fo my personal collection.

Intuitively over the last 3 years I have been buying more black beads and cabochons, namely obsidian, silver sheen and velvet, black tourmaline, rought tops, onyx, mystic, and shungite, but as you can see they weren't just plain black they had something of hidden depths, and customer seem to love them.

During one of my making sessions, I thought how wonderful a black ring would make to the stall, I found an irregular rough top Elite Shungite cabochon and set about creating the setting to hold it.

It was whilst creating this ring, something kept saying this ring is for you, this ring is for you!!!

I kept on pushing this thought to the back of my mind, after all I'm not a fan of black healing crystals, so as far as I was concerned this ring was destined for my stall at my next market at the weekend.

The more I pushed this idea of this ring was for me to the back of my mind the louder the thought became!!!

In the end I decided if I finished the ring, and the ring fitted then I would keep the ring

 

When creating bezel set jewellery, the hardest part is the actual setting the stone within the piece, I was so aware of how fragile this elite shungite cabochon was, especially with the rough top and the differing heights of the stone, and I can tell you there were a couple of squeaky pants momments, where I could have cracked the stone!!!

Always a believer in quitting while I'm a head I felt that the stone was secure enough within the setting, and tried it on the only finger that was available on my right hand.

It was a true Cinderella moment, as it fitted like a glove.

   

So now naturally I am intrigued to find out more about this healing crystal Shungite, and why I needed it in my life.

Shungite is an old healing crystal at least 2 billion years old, and only found in Karelia, northern Russia, a extremely earthy and geopathogenic healing crystal.  It contains virtually all the elements of the periodic table, and has tremendous shielding power!

It clears out mental and emotional pollutants, allowing fresh patterns to imprint, whilst encouraging keeping past wisdom and applying it to the present to create a new future.

It is said that Shungite is a traditional cure-all, assists in cellular metabolism, neurotransmitters, immune, digestive and filteration systems, improves enzyme production and provides pain relief.

Shungite acts as a detoxifier, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine.

Considering what's going on with my body at the moment, I now fully understand that internal message when maing this ring.

As to well black is black, in this case when it catches the light there is more to this stone as it shows rainbows, and different shades of navy black ond hues of orange, it is truly mesmerising, I absolutely love it!!!
 

I wore this ring to my next market the Sustainability and Vegan Festival at Bishton Hall, and a customer who brought one of my amber chaos rings, at the Eatser Craft Market at Bishton Hall the week before, saw it and wanted to buy it.

I know that this ring is truly a one off, but sometimes you have to release things and not have any attachments in life, so I agreed that if the ring fitted she could buy it.

Universe clearly had other ideas, as it didn't fit her finger.

I knew I had some rough elite shungite on order from India, and said once they arrived I would let her pick a stone and make a ring for her, and that I have some black tourmaline rough tops too!
