Copper, Copper and more Copper
Copper, Copper and more Copper
This month it was all about copper and mainly studs.
I have had a couple of contemporary hoop earring ideas running around my head for a couple of months, and I have had a couple of customers recently ask about copper studs, which was something I was thinking of shelving, but with an increased number of requests and enquiries I still was in 2 mnds as to make more.
During the Granby Street market a customer really wanted one of my copper chaos rings, but unfortunately I didn't have her size, but offered to make one for her, and you know me I don't just make one item:
Handcrafted recycled copper chaos commissioned ring
This of course ignited the creative spark within me and all those ideas I had been sitting on came to the fore!!!
I have had a few customers ask me for some heart copper studs, so I made a few pairs of those which I think are pretty cute and will make wonderful stocking fillers for Christmas. As I was at it is also made a few pairs of copper star studs which I had currently sold out of.
A few customers with smaller fingers had remarked that althought they loved my chaos rings, that the found them too high especially with their smaller fingers.
Most jewellers I know sel stacker rings, but I really don't want to go down that design road, as I love to offer something a little bit different and maybe quirky, so just playing around I made one of those traditional russian intertwining ring just to test the sizing and mechanics of the design.
Then I hit on the idea of why not have an chaos ring that you create?
I created this chain of 5 linked rings that you can fold and/or slide into position before putting it on your finger to create your own style of slimline choas ring:

I've had this design idea for a geometric shaped hoops for months, but just needed to work out the process to bring it to life. It was easy to see it in my minds eye, but actually making it is always a different matter, and as I was in the creative zone I came out with the final hoop.
I did make 2 pairs of these, but unfortunately one became the casualty of the tumbler, which is good, as it was a faulty/weak solder join, so best find out now before selling it to a customer:
Handcrafted Recycled Copper Diamond Hoops
I really do love the contemporary feel of these hoops, and this has opened up a whole new geometric permutations of designs.
As you know I do love my asymmetric earrings, and created these triangular copper studs:
I would really love to hear your thoughts, so post something in the comments below.
Until next time
