So I get a phone call from an old university friend, that her children are away for Easter and she needs a break, plus I have been super busy that I have not had a break in years.

Well with an offer like that who can resist, and so our little break begins, but where do we go???

We she wants to relax and have a beach holiday, not my cup of tea, but I can go with this for now, and off to google I go searching for a "beach" holiday.

I have to say the idea of spending 5 days lying on a beach doesn't appeal especially as I have a number of beaches, if not the weather within 10 minutes drive.

For my holiday I need culture and architecture to immerse myself in.

So the usual Spanish resorts are out of the question, and I suggest Malta and Gibralter, as they are both islands so the beach thing is sorted, and they look interesting to keep me out of trouble.

Trouble is my travelling partner doesn't seem to keen, so after a few days wrangling we decide on........

BARCELONA!!!!!!

I have been before with another friend 5 years ago, that kinda came to a bit of sticky end, but that's another story, but my old pal hasn't, but it's got beaches and architecture and Gaudi, happy days.

Barcelona is such a cool city and ass I only spend no more than 4 days, you can get to see alot, and still be left to see more at a later date.

And we are staying just off La Ramblas, so this will be a new area to explore.

So looking forward to seeing what's new and being inspired
