Even More Labradorite!!!!
Even More Labradorite!!!!
My last 2 handcrafted recycled sterling silver Labradorite rings sold at Makers Central, such a popular stones, especially with their deep jewel coloured flashes made them so irresistable, so I needed to create a new collection in tie for The Pop up in the Palmhouse Spring Market
So my small labradorite rings was a big hit, and it was on my to do list to make some more, but as with most things time wasn't un my side as there were other things I wanted to make for Makers Central, especially as I still had one ring left.
Until that sweet Cinderella moment, when it sold, so I needed to create a new collection in time for Pop up in the Palmhouse.
Raiding my stash of small labradorite stones, I was immediately drawn to the geometrical squares and rectangular shapes which I knew I wanted to make rings with.
From my previous blog post, Labradorite what's not to like??? you will know that I love to use my new star stamps when working with Labradorite stones as it is a transformation healing stone, a crystal of magic, so what is more magical than stars, and as I have 3 star stamps of different sizes I could make the pieces look like a galaxy.
This square labradorite stone, caught the inner magpie in me, and the only problem I had was deciding which way to set it, as a square or as a diamond, as the flashes of this stone are so immense in both orientations, and I kept going back and forth with it until finally deciding to go with the diamond with a stamped square ring shank, making it truly contemporary:
Handcrafted SS Diamond Labradorite Star Stamped Square Ring
This blue flash Labradorite really needs no explanation why I was drawn to it, its simply absolutely gorgeous, and I designed it with some under stated flare by creating a simple textured hexagonal ring shank:
There's always something when you get a stone with a dark moody labradoressence, and when combined in a rectangular shape, you've got my full attention
As the stone is so dramatic, with is dark electric blue flash, I didn't want anything to detract from its natural beauty and decided to go with a standard stamped ring shank:
Whilst checking out the Labradorite stash I had put aside 3 teardrop stones, not my favourite shape to work with and create jewellery with, but each had such amazing Labradoressence for different reasons, one became a ring, but I used a different stamp on the ring shank to shake things up a bit:
This has to be my favourite Labradorite stone I used within this collection, I mean what's not to love when looking at this jewel green flash?
And as I was working on the pendant setting I decided to change things up a little by adding an small embellishment and a stamped pattern.
Again I had to decide which way was up with piece depending on how much of the dramatic and moody flash would be revealed:
Labradorite comes in all diffrent colours and shades of colours including blue, purple and orange, so naurally I would be drawn to this light green grey stripy stone, which I orginally wanted to make into a ring, but found it a bit to big and chunky.
I added a small embellishment of fine silver ball, as the first setting I created wasn't up to muster, so I melted down the bezel to use in the new setting:
What do you think?
Which is your favourite design?
