Makers Central - Uniting Creativity
Makers Central - Uniting Creativity
I cannot believe that it has been 5 years since I was last able to attend Maker Central, their first in the UK in 2018
Wow what can I say....
It was so awesome to be able to take part in Makers Central, in the NEC Birmingham, this year, as since attending their first one back in 2018, between date clashes, commitments, lockdown and life in general, I haven't been able to return.
Obviously things have changed, and there was now a dedicated makers market area within the show, it still has a heavy wood turners slant, due to the Youtube influencers and sponsors, but there was so much to see and do for all the family over the 2 days.
It was so busy that I wasn't able to get round and see all what was on offer and check out the innovative and cool stuff there, I was going to splash out on a new Dremel, as they had a stand there, but the universe had other plans.
As the maker event with an international following and crowd, I thought this was the perfect place to launch my limited range of handcrafted recycled sterling silver Fordite jewellery, which included contemporary earrings, studs, rings and pendants.
The pieces got a lot of attention, especially when I explained that Fordite is the waste paint from the car manufacturer industry:
They've released the Makers Central 2024 dates, but it may clash wih Pop up in the Palmhouse, so I will have to hang fire until next year before I commit.
