Back to the Barcelona Bucket List
Back to the Barcelona Bucket List
So Day One of our Barcelona break was quite eventful to say the least. We are 230 Euros down, but we are not out and its back to our Barcelona Bucket List
So after our wander around the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Cathedral, we wander back towards our hotel, but decide to stop off at a local cafe and checkout the Spanish Hot Chocolate.
Nothing prepared us for this, as we was expecting a hot chocolate similar to what we get in good old blighty!
However this little cup of delishiousness, would be better described as hot chocolate custard!
I mean it was so thick the teaspoon literally stood up in it! I didn't know whether to sip it our use the teaspoon, and it was super rich chocolate, that I could feel my pancreas groan!
That said it was an interesting flavour sensation, and was so glad that it was served in such a small cup, and that we had ticked another thing off our Barcelona bucket list.
Now the Funicular could be quite a tricky thing to achieve, as there are not that many around in Barcelona, however later that evening while chilling out in the hotel room Soz, liked the idea of seeing the magic fountain, don't ask!
So we had 45 minutes to get ready and get ourselves to this Magic Fountain, so I decided we will go via Parc de Montjuic, as I knew that we would get to ride a Funicular, and off we set.
Luckily as we are based just off Las Ramblas we are so near a metro station and a quick change at Paral-lel, and another thing on our Barceleona bucket list is ticked off. That little funicular trip, was the longest 3 minutes ever, as we jump into the nearest carriage before the door closes behind us, as 10 pairs of eyes focus on us, stare at us for the whole journey up to Parc de Montjuic! We didn't know if they wanted to eat us or cuddle us. We were thankful to get out of that carriage once we reached the top.
Unfortunately what goes up must come down, but at least we could take a nice stroll through Parc de Montjuic, while we tried to find the Majic Fountain. Not sure what Soz was thinking but to think this:
This
This
Or even this
Was the Magic Fountain, maybe her hot chocolate contained a little more than just chocolate!!!
So we decide to follow the noise and finally we stumble upon our target, with minutes before the 8:30pm show
But we have to wait, and wait and wait and wait, until finally
And then
To the full synchronised fountain, coloured light and musical spectacle
What a great way to end such a day
So on a high with Queens' Barcelona as an ear worm, with our bellies rumbling we leave the Magic Fountain to find something to eat, and decide to see if we can do a hat-trick completing our bucket list, and so we go in search for some Paella.
