Druzy Collection
Maybe it's the sign of the times, but customers seem to be drawn to fidget anti-stress/anxiety jewellery at the moment
Although I have a selection of spinner/fidget rings, I have noticed that a number of customers comment on the fact that they love to rub their fingers over the textures of the ring shanks, to relieve the stresses and anxiety of every day life.
I know myself that when I'm concentrating or engrossed with certain tasks I have the tendency to stroke the rough top Elite Shungite pendant, or the labradorite ring, if I'm wearing it.
I love the look of druzy and/or rough top stones in my jewellery as grey are both organic and mesmerising especially if the posses chatoyancy or flashes, as these effects can be subtle or dramatic, and the matrix adds a 3D dimension to the jewellery and a sensory characteristic.
Druzy have similar energies to clusters, (radiates energy, brings unity to spaces, opens dialogue and conversatios) and rough/raw ( strong sporadic energy and raises vibrations), which can boost you imagination and creativity and induce relaxation and assist with emotional problems.
Druzy provides emotional balance, amplifies creativity and increases clarity.
With this in mind, I thought I would launch a new limited collection the Druzy/Rough Top jewellery at Art in the Pen.
Always a sucker for the elegance of the marquis shaped stone, I found a gorgeous statement green tourmaline in quartz stone in my selection, and knew instantly that I wanted it to become a fabulous ring, with its mountainous formation.
As some of my customers like to have a ring and pendant set, I started looking for another stone to compliment the ring, and decided to change up the setting to mimic the green tourmaline inclusions:

As I finally got round to categorising my collection of gems over the Christmas period, I was rooting around one of my drawers looking for the right combination for a rough top Black Tourmaline ring and pendant, when the magpie in me came across some Spectropyrite stones, and I just couldn't resist.
Feeling a bit funky I really wanted to go to town with the setting for this over stone, and started looking at my off-cuts, and came up with this:
Handcrafted Contemporary Spectropyrite Ring
After the little distraction with the Spectropyrite stone, I returned my attention back to looking for some rough top Black Tourmaline, and found a gorgeous marquis with some fabulous ridging.
The last time I created a batch of Black Tourmaline rings and pendants I had a 75% success rate when setting them as they cracked when I applied too much pressure when setting them within the bezel, so to say that I was nervous this time working with the stones, is an understatement!
However I think with practice over time, and knowing how much pressure to apply, resulted in these striking statement pieces:
Handcrafted Contemporary Spectropyrite Ring
My latest order of stones from India arrived days earlier, it has a 4 - 6 week lag time between ordering and delivery, so naturally I had forgotten what I had ordered, so it's always a nice surprise when I open up the boxes, and found my gorgeous Druzy Azurite in Quartz stones.
I mean look at them, am I the only one who thinks they look like the world?
Keeping things simple, as I am now in a bit of a time crunch, I decided to go with the easiest shapes to work with, and to keep the settings as minimalist as possible to let the natural matrix of the Druzy stones do the heavy lifting:
