Always on the lookout for something super cool for my jewellery collections.

Naturally, the phenomenon asterism would catch my eye.

Asterism, you might ask?

Never heard of this term?

This phenomenon is created when the stone is formed, it contains  inclusions of hematite that when the light hits it, and you have the right orientation forms a star, which can be a four for six ray star.

For a geek like me, this is going to be Uber cool and that's why in preparation for Art in the Pen I wanted this as part of my launch collection

Previous shows last year, I've spoken to a number of customers about Star Garnet, most of whom have never heard of this stone, but were both fascinated and intrigued to see it!

With this in mind I created a small collection of rings and pendants, as I only have a few stones in stock that exhibit this characteristic.

Stering with the pendants, I wanted to keep the design minimalistic whilst mimicing the asterism, and with regards to the Star Garnet, the beauty is the stone itself, so that's what I wanted to show off:

Now my attention turns to the Black Star Diopside stones, and again with the pendant I keep the design minimalistic, but then decide to go a little bit funky and/or contemporary with the ring.

I have to say these stones, are one of my top 10 favourites to work with, for obvious reasons, and I might land up snagging one of these beauties myself.
