Asymmetric Earrings Collection
Asymmetric Earrings Collection
Not someone who follows the norm, so when I was offered these mis matched stones, I automatically knew that they would become asymmetrical earrings.
You know when you see some stones, and you automatically have a design pop into you head?
Well this was the case in point with 2 pairs of geometric faceted labradorite an organic shaped boulder opals.
One of the great things about being creative, not following trends or rules, is that I make from my heart and intuition.
My designs are minimalist as I was the natural features and characteristics of the stones in the jewellery to shine and do all the heavy lifting.
This is made all the easier with the flashes of both the labradorite and boulder opals.
The first pair of asymmetric labradorite earrings was straight forward as they are different geometric shapes with different colours of labradoressence and/or flashes:

Working with the second pair although a different shape pairing, I wanted to up the design anti, due to their flashes not being as dynamic as the first pair.
To add bit of a contemporary feel to this pair I decided to use the metal elements to mirror the opoosite earring shape, and slightly offset it:

The 2 pairs of boulder opal cabochons naturally lent themselves to make fabulous asymmetrical earrings, the hardest part is deciding the what was the best orientation for the setting so get the Opal flashes, and whether to add a geometric back, or show the natural organic shape of the stones.
in both cases I decided to go with the later to extenuating their organic asymmetrical shapes of both the stones and the earrings, making the first pair an dangle earrings:

Whilst the second pair, I thought would make an awesome pair of studs, especially with the dramatic matrix of the stones:
